SANDRA “SANDY” RAE TENWALDE

            Sandra “Sandy” Rae Tenwalde 57 of rural Harrison, Michigan passed away Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at MidMichigan Medical Center-West Branch. Sandra was born November 13, 1963 in Regina, Saskatchewan, the daughter of George Cooper and Vivian Grace (Fox) Cooper. Sandy had resided in the Harrison-Gladwin communities since 1967, moving from Saskatchewan, Canada. Sandy graduated from Skeels Christian School, Gladwin in 1981. Sandra was united in marriage to Steven E. Tenwalde on June 14, 1986 at the Clare Congregational United Church of Christ, Clare. Sandy was a hairstylist at several salons throughout Harrison over a 35-year career. She said she always felt like her life purpose was helping people feel beautiful about themselves. She was an active sports mom on her kid's teams, particularly with their hockey teams. She became an avid photographer for those teams and loved freely sharing those photos with all of the kids and families.

Surviving Mrs. Tenwalde is her loving husband of thirty-five years, Mr. Steve E. Tenwalde, one daughter, Alexa Tenwalde, one son, Logan Tenwalde, one sister, Shelley L. Dixon and husband Dion, her father, George Cooper, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, many friends and acquaintances. Sandy was preceded in death by her mother, Vivian Grace Cooper.

                Life Celebration services honoring Sandy will be held Friday, September 24^th, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Stocking Funeral Home, 165 W. Oak Street, Harrison. Family and friends gathering will take place Thursday, September 23^rd from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Friday, September 24^th from 11:00 a.m.  until time of service. Memorial gifts in memory of Sandy may be considered to: Clare County Animal Shelter, 4040 Hazel Drive, Harrison, Michigan 48625.
