Richard Hazen Cottrell, age 81, of Harrison passed away Sunday, March 10, 2024.

A Memorial Service for Richard will be held at the Harrison United Brethren Church, 250 East Main Street Harrison, Michigan 48625, on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 12 noon with Pastor Wendy Kindel officiating. A Luncheon will follow at the church. The family will receive friends the day of the service from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at Clark-Stocking Funeral Chapel and the church.

Richard was born on January 10, 1943, in Dayton, Ohio, son of Earl and Etta (Deeter) Cottrell. Richard married Edna Lydia Smith on October 9, 1981, in Harrison. He worked for Brown Machine for over 40 years, working as a welding supervisor. Richard also owned and operated Dick's Pontoon Moving and Storage. He was a member of the John J. Carton Masonic Lodge # 436 in Harrison. Richard enjoyed helping all of his neighbors, spending time outdoors hunting and fishing, and enjoyed a cold beer with his family and friends.

Richard is survived by his children, Leroy Smith of Harrison, Lilly (Dennis) Warner of Battle Creek, Cindy Zettler of Brownstown, Stanley (Kim) Smith of Harrison, Richard Cottrell of Branson, MO, Shawn (John) Benedict of Evart, Shelly (Myron) Mark of Hersey, and Robert (Erin) Cottrell of Harrison; 30 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Cottrell on October 22, 2014; son, Kenneth Smith; daughter, Debbie Smith; son-in-law, Edward Zettler; parents; and sister, Eileen Chasteen.
