Richard “Dick” Hans Evers age 82 of Harrison passed peacefully on Sunday, July 2, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving wife and children as he took his journey to Heaven. Richard was born January 13, 1941 in Howell, Michigan the son of Hans and Sarah Jane (Singleton) Evers. Richard graduated from Heartland High School in 1959. Soon after graduation, Mr. Evers honorably enlisted in the United States Army and served his country during the Vietnam War. Richard was united in marriage to Ms. Barbara Ann Scott on September 29, 1962, in Carneys Point, New Jersey.

Our father was a family man who lived a quiet, simple life, he believed friends come and go, yet family is forever, treat them kind. Known in our community as the “mailman” working his United States postal rural route for 30 plus years enjoying and sharing recipes with coworkers, never forgetting many friends he made on his route. Dick loved sharing his homemade beer he started, perfected and made since 1978, reminding us all that it was important to him to describe the process of making and drinking beer. Rule #1- stories of how important bottling and capping each beer after brewing, Rule #2- how to exactly pour the beer into a frosted mug and Rule #3- followed by memorable conversations on his porch reminding us there is an art to making and drinking beer. Dick was a boxing coach for Hayes Township Boxing Team where he had the privilege to coach and mentor his sons and other boys from the community. Dick loved going on back road drives, listening to talk radio, especially Icon Rush Limbaugh, country music and visiting the Amish stores. He enjoyed relaxing in Florida, sitting in the sun, sharing stories of long ago, adding memorable quotes: “How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you were”. He would always remind his kids to never say goodbye, “Goodbyes are forever, it’s see you later”, to remember we are all loved. Evers 11 will forever remember him in our hearts for us the “Greatest Man” that ever lived, our father, grandpa, great-grandpa, loving husband, Richard Hans Evers.

Surviving Dick is his loving wife of 60 years, Mrs. Barbara Evers, his nine children: Randall (Christina) Evers, Melissa Evers, Ja-Neen Combs, Erik (Kammy) Evers, Mathew Evers, Aaron (Parissa) Evers, Kimberly (Tom) Evers-Harrison, Scott Evers and Ryan (Misty) Evers, twenty-three grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren, one sister, Rita Osborn and Joe, three brothers: Jim and Joan Evers, Ed and Genie Evers and Phil and Laura Evers, plus many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Mr. Evers was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters: Marie, Marj and Sue and two brothers: Pete and Don.
