BETTY JUNE NASH

MARCH 27, 1926 -JULY 19, 2020

Posted

Betty June Nash passed away peacefully with family by her side on July 19, 2020, due to congestive heart failure. Born March 27, 1926, to Horton and Ethel Case of Harrison, Michigan, Betty often told stories of the sacrifices the family made during the Great Depression.

She eloped with Oliver Nash on July 4, 1948. Oliver and Betty were happily married for 68 years. Oliver described Betty lovingly as his “Right-Hand Man” as she was always willing to help with his numerous projects including building a sailboat, tractor and state of the art energy efficient retirement home and hobby farm on the family homestead. They resided in that home until ill health brought them to Rochester in 2004 to live closer to their daughter.

Betty worked as a secretary for the Dow Chemical Company in her early years of marriage, but then stayed home to raise her children during their school years. Betty and Oliver established a home-based engraving and trophy business in Midland, Michigan, in which Betty worked full time for many years.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and 2 brothers. She is survived by her son Kim Alan Nash (Debbie) of Billings, MT; daughter Carol Nash (Pat Carroll) of Rochester; granddaughter Janna Carroll-Boldt (Tony) of Byron; granddaughter Tessa Wuertz (Riley) of Seattle, WA; numerous nieces and nephews with a particularly close relationship with niece Sandi Bobo of Harrison, MI. Betty is also survived by her faithful dog, Pixie.

Betty will be cremated. Her wish is to not have a memorial service. Betty and Oliver’s lives will be celebrated privately by the family at a future date. Betty’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Seasons Hospice and especially to the caregivers at Visiting Angels for many hours of compassionate care. Memorials are suggested to Camp Companion of Rochester or charity of your choice.
