Karen L. Tyer, age 79, of Clare, formerly of Harrison, passed away Friday, January 26, 2024, at Woodland Hospice.

A Memorial Serivce for Karen will be held at Clark-Stocking Funeral Chapel on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. with Father J. Marcel Portelli officiating. A Luncheon will immediately follow in the Reflections Reception Center. The family will receive friends the day of the service from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment of ashes will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Clare County Animal Shelter. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Karen was born on February 5, 1944, in Pontiac, MI, daughter of Allen and Beulah (Whitlock) Johnson. She married Daniel Norman Tyer on June 7, 1997, in Keego Harbor, MI. She attended St. Athanasius Catholic Church in Harrison. Karen was loved by her community and family, but always put her dogs first.

Karen is survived by her three sons, Robert (Karen) Larson, Jr. of Austin, IN, Richard (Apple) Larson of Clare, and Martin (Marila) Larson of Harrison; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Richard (Julie) Johnson of Greenville, SC; sisters, Nivra (Tom) Ruth of White Lake, MI, and Virna (Lon) Kasowski of Clancy, MT; and many nieces and nephews.

Karen was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Tyer in 2006; parents; and brother, Joe Johnson.
