Elois Esther Bugbee

                Elois Esther Bugbee age 101 of Harrison passed peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at Medilodge of Clare. Elois was born March 4, 1922, in Pontiac, Michigan, the daughter of Herbert Abel Parker and Sarah Bathsheba Hamp. Elois left school at age 15, when she was 57, she earned her high school diploma and at age 87, Elois graduated with a 3-year degree from Faith Bible Institute at First Baptist Church-Harrison. Elois was united in marriage to Mr. Orville W. Goschka Sr. her husband of forty-three years, she was then united in marriage to Mr. James M. Nelson her husband of eleven years and Wallace L. Bugbee her husband of fourteen years, all preceding Elois in death.

                Elois had resided in Leota since 1981, moving here from Bridgeport, Michigan. Elois was an office bookkeeper at Kmart of Saginaw for over sixteen years. One of her jobs she really enjoyed was doing the weekly payroll. Soon after moving to Leota, Elois became a member of Leota Community Church and served on the board as treasurer, Sunday school teacher, Awana Leader, running the kitchen, organizing the annual pig roast dinner, Easter breakfast, along with the many meals in between. She enjoyed working with Pastor Bruce Knickerbocker for four years and twenty-one years with Pastor Jerry Britton. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Harrison for many years until her health prevented her from attending. Elois enjoyed playing Scrabble, camping, dancing, listening to gospel and country music, cooking, all activities with her church and spending time with family and friends.

                Mrs. Bugbee is survived by her son, Orville “Bill” Goschka Jr. and fiancée Zona Squires of Harrison, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, plus several nieces, nephews and extended family member. Mrs. Bugbee also was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Sharon Goschka-Smielewski, one son, James Goschka, one foster-son, William Parker, one grandson, Philip Smielewski, five sisters and four brothers.

                Funeral services for Mrs. Bugbee will be held Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. from Clark-Stocking Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service, 165 W. Oak St., Harrison with Pastor Ron Callen officiating. Visitation will take place Tuesday, July 18, 2023, from 10:30 a.m. until time of service.
