HARRISON – The amazing wall mural on the east side of the Harrison District Library’s refurbished Surrey House was created by local artist and art educator Ian Humphres. But, as dynamic and vibrant as it is, the mural is the work of only one artist, and the library desired to have the community be equally invested in the outdoor art project. Thus, community members were invited to express themselves artistically through paint embellishment of the steppingstones which lead up to the patio area adjacent to the wall mural. The community did not disappoint, and although rainy weather had caused the original event to be rescheduled, when Aug. 10 rolled around some 75 people turned out and the painting of the 48 steppingstones began. Shown here are some of the remarkable results that age-diverse group of artists achieved.
