Political platform statement

Why I am running for this office: I am running for re-election to continue to represent ALL of Greenwood Township and to continue advocating for our rural community. I have been on the board for 8 years and have continually worked for the common interests of all of the residents of Greenwood Township. I have owned property in the township since 1992. My husband Art and I grew to love the area and moved here 14 years ago. In addition to my other responsibilities, I am the sexton of the Hillcrest Cemetery. It has been both very interesting and very challenging, and I have learned so much about the townships history and its families, past and present. I am also the Treasurer of the Clare County Township Association. I have held this position for 4 years. It is there that I learn what is happening in other townships and I bring that information to our township board. I am not the type of person to seek out photo opportunities, list social events I’ve attended, or tell you about the charities that I contribute to, because I don't believe that type of information makes me a better candidate for trustee. What is important for you to know about me is that I understand the rural nature of our community, and believe what works here isn’t necessarily the same as what works in large cities. I don’t want to CHANGE Greenwood Township, but I do want to be a part of its continued growth and stability. I feel I’ve contributed to the board through two terms and would be honored to be able to continue to represent you as Township Trustee. Please consider splitting your ticket in this election to allow both incumbents the opportunity to represent not just one area, but ALL areas, of Greenwood Township.
