Brandi (Sandborn) Wentworth, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, plead no contest to the charge of Embezzlement of $100,000.00 or more as a habitual second offender on April 10, 2023. This conviction was a result of an investigation conducted by the Michigan State Police, Mt. Pleasant post. Their investigation started in February 2020 when the owner of Owens Water Softener, Inc, reported that Ms. Sandborn (who later married and became Wentworth) was embezzling from the company as far back as 2011.

The owner of the business worked with a forensic accountant and determined that the amount of the embezzlement was over $424,000.00.

Sandborn was sentenced by Judge Mienk on May 30, 2023, to a prison term. She was ordered to serve 96 months (8 years) to 30 years with credit for 1 day previously served. She was ordered to pay a total of $258 state costs. She still wishes to fight the restitution amount and a hearing will be scheduled at a later date on that issue.
