VFW Car, Truck & Bike Show Draws Interest, Variety

Posted

HARRISON – It takes more than some early July heat to stop patriotic vehicle enthusiasts from attending a show. And so it was Saturday, July 1 at Harrison VFW Post 1075, the site of the 2nd Annual Car, Truck & Bike Show.

All sorts of restored, enhanced and highly graphic entries vied for the coveted top four category winners.

Among them was a highly specialized Oshkosh M-ATV from the 46th Military Police Unit in Corunna by Guardsmen Max Robles and Edwin Burton of the Army National Guard Base in Midland.

VFW Post 1075 Commander Scott Taylor noted that he had spent a great deal of time in one of those vehicles when deployed in the Middle East.

The event included lots of camaraderie, drawings which included a 50-50 drawing that garnered the winner $155, a gun raffle, and a bounty of silent auction items donated by generous area merchants.

Winning plaques and accolades for their entries were:

Commander’s Trophy: Denny Harris of Gladwin with a stock 1977 Oldsmobile 442.

Best in Show - Truck: Joe Minterfering of Harrison with a custom 1953 Chevrolet 3100 Pickup.

Best in Show - Car: Gary Moore of Harrison with a custom 1946 Studebaker.

Best in Show - Bike: Jeremy Kemp of Sumner, MI with a custom 2012 Harley-Davidson Dyna Switchback.
