Harrison got the better of Pinconning during their two regular season girls basketball contests. The Lady Spartans unfortunately got their revenge on the Lady Hornets on Monday, March 2, when they ended their season in a Division 3 district opening round game in Meridian, with a score of 47-44.
Things started off well for Harrison, as they took an early lead; getting a three-pointer and a two-pointer by Lydia Kendall. Alivia Winters, Gracie Burkhard and Hayley Neff all had field goals as well and the Hornets had an 11-4 lead after one. Their offense slowed down in the second though, getting just one shot from the floor each by Caitlin Kirby and Neff. Burkhard did add a pair of free throws, but Harrison fell behind 20-17 entering the half.
Neff had a solid third quarter with seven points and Kirby drained a triple as part of her five points in the frame, but they were still behind entering the fourth, 34-31. Threes from Dakota O’Day and Kirby helped Harrison stay in the mix until the end, but they were unable to get out in front as the game played out.
The Hornets were led by Neff who had 11 points, Kirby hit a pair of threes on her way to 10 points, Burkhard added nine points, Kendall finished with seven, O’Day chipped in with five and Winters netted two.
The Lady Spartans were led by Allison Fork who had 22 points and Ella Hunter and Layla Focco added nine points apiece.
Harrison ends the season 9-13 overall.
