Spiritual Center of Clare Dedicates Peace Pole and Labyrinth/Meditation Garden

Posted

On Sunday, Sept. 20, a local New Thought community, the Spiritual Center of Clare, located at 215 W. Sixth St., Clare, MI, gathered to dedicate a brand-new meditation garden and Peace Pole, marking a three-year journey of love, planning and collective labor by its members.  In the true spirit of “Gadugi” (Cherokee for working together).  The timing of the dedication carries profound significance as it took place one day before World Peace Day, September 21.  This is a global observance dedicated to strengthening the ideals of peace both within and among all nations and peoples.

This sacred space, which officially began taking physical shape with the planting of the Peace Pole on September 8, serves as a permanent sanctuary for reflection, harmony and spiritual connection.

At the heart of the garden is a uniquely designed Red Path (Road) featuring a labyrinth built entirely by members.  They received help from Mr. Dennis McDonald, owner of All Pro Automotive in Harrison.  He donated a bench and helped restore all four benches.  Standing in the center is the newly dedicated Peace Pole.  Imprinted with the universal prayer, “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in four languages.  English, Spanish, Cherokee and Aramaic (the language Jesus spoke).  Rev. Lorna Brown and local artist researched the languages that were chosen.  She “wood burned” the prayer on each side.  The pole serves as a visual anchor for global unity.  There are two gardens in opposite corners, a rock garden, a dry river rock creek and a metal sculpture of Saint Francis of Assisi.

The Spiritual Center gathered in a circle of “love and shared intention,” members affirmed during a communal responsive reading at the ceremony.  “By anchoring peace in this soil today, we anchor it deeply in our hearts, we commit to thinking peace, speaking peace and being peace.”

We have fulfilled the vision of our founder Anne Hobart.

Look for the miracles,

Nancy A. Temelko
