                Sharon May Sanders age 85 of Harrison passed away at her home on Tuesday, March 22, 2022. Sharon was born May 11, 1936 in Detroit, Michigan the daughter of Howard W. Connell and Ina Jean (French) Connell. Sharon was united in marriage to the “love of her life”, Norman “Norm” William Sanders on July 26, 1952 in Wayne, Michigan. Sharon owned and operated The Beauty Parlor of Wayne, Michigan for many years. She was a licensed Cosmetologist from 1963 until her retirement in 1994. Sharon had resided in Harrison part time from 1989 until 1994 and then full time immediately following her retirement. Sharon was an active member of the Women of the Moose Harrison Chapter 1804 for many years. She was very active with the Harrison Moose and Family Center, where she volunteered many hours with Grandma’s Kitchen. She was an American Red Cross, volunteering for numerous Blood Drives throughout the years as well as a long-standing member of the TOPS group. Mrs. Sanders was passionate about floral gardening, vegetable gardening, crocheting, knitting, co-piloting her husband for many years on their motorcycle, casino trips with family and friends and a multiple blue-ribbon recipient with Harrison 4H for her Swedish weaving creations. Sharon also enjoyed golf cart rides as well as endless shopping trips.

                Surviving Mrs. Sanders is her loving husband and best friend of sixty-nine years, Mr. Norman “Norm” Sanders of Harrison, one daughter, Cheryl Holloway and husband Dave of Westland, their children: Amy Burnette and husband Dave, David Holloway Jr., Troy Holloway and Tiffany Holloway, one son, Terry Sanders of Brooklyn, Michigan, daughter in law, Mary Sanders of Garden City, Michigan and her children: Larry Sanders Jr. and Michael Sanders and wife Tina, nine great-grandchildren, one sister, Linda Wiley of Benton Harbor, Michigan,  plus many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Larry Sanders, one brother, Bill Connell and one brother-in-law, Edward Wiley.

                Funeral services for Mrs. Sanders will be held Sunday, March 27, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison with Mr. Benjamen Evers officiating. A time of visitation will take place on Saturday, March 26, 2022 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Stocking Funeral Home and again on Sunday, March 27, 2022 from 12:00 p.m. until time of service. Burial will be held Monday, March 28, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. from Cadillac Memorial Gardens West, Westland. Memorial gifts in memory of Sharon may be considered to: American Cancer Society.
