Rustic Owl Vendor of the Week-Linda Bailey

Posted

It’s not a wedding dress shop but the Rustic Owl does have a wedding dress in their window. The dress was worn by Vickie Buckley over 30 years ago and donated to the Harrison Area Chamber of Commerce for a murder mystery dinner costume several years ago. Since Buckley didn’t want the dress back it was entered into the Clare County Fair by Linda Bailey’s grandson and won a blue ribbon and best of show. Since it wasn’t yet 50 years old the historical society wouldn’t accept it, so Bailey has been storing it. When Bailey decided to be a vendor at the Rustic Owl the dress came out and along with Maye Tessner-Rood the duo decided to auction the dress. The beautiful lace and beaded dress will be auctioned off at the Harrison Area Chamber of Commerce murder mystery dinner in November and proceeds will go towards the golden eagle statues planned for next year at the Veterans Freedom Park. Tessner-Rood is currently working with Clare artist Jeff Best to create two golden eagles facing each other. The Science of Murder, a murder mystery dinner, will be held on Saturday, Nov. 4 at the Harrison Moose. Doors open at 5 p.m., dinner at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. $35 per person. Visit www.harrisonareachamber.com or call 989-539-6011 for tickets. Visit the Rustic Owl in the former Harrison District Library building at 105 E. Main St. in Harrison. Regular business hours are from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Tuesday-Thursday; and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Closed Monday
