Roger "Skip" L. Kogler

Roger "Skip" L. Kogler, known affectionately as Skip by his friends and loved ones, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2023, at the age of 75. Born in Flint, Michigan, on April 24, 1948, to the late Lewis and Eva (Cooper) Kogler, Skip grew into a man of great character and warmth, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His final days were spent in Clare, Michigan, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. Skip served his country in the U.S. Army before embarking on a career that showcased his mechanical prowess. He worked at Frost Bite of Clare and later retired from Fisher Transport Co. as a skilled mechanic. His work was not just a job but a testament to his commitment to excellence and his ability to solve problems with his hands and his heart. Beyond his professional life, Skip was a man of many passions. He had an unwavering love for carpentry, a craft through which he expressed his creativity and meticulous nature. The great outdoors called to him, and he answered with enthusiasm, whether he was hunting, fishing, or simply enjoying the tranquility of camping. His love for cooking was evident at the family barbecues, where he would serve up delicious meals with a side of laughter and joy.

Skip's legacy is carried on by his significant other of 38 years, Billie Mazurkiewicz, and her family, who cherished him as a father figure. He was like a father to Penny (Troy) Shook and Scott E. Mazurkiewicz and a doting grandfather to Alayna Shook, Aaryn Shook, and John Carl Mazurkiewicz IV. His brother, Dick (Ethel) Kogler, nephew Richard Kogler, and many other nieces and nephews will also hold dear the memories they shared. His furry companions, Bambi and Peppy, were a source of joy and comfort throughout his life. Skip's family circle was made whole with the inclusion of Billie's family, and he was a pillar of strength and love within it. He was preceded in death by a grandson John Carl Mazurkiewicz III, a brother Jimmy Kogler and a sister Nancy Kogler -Parker a loss felt deeply by all who loved them.

Skip's impact on the world was marked by his kindness, his dedication to his loved ones, and his ability to make the most out of every moment. He lived his life with a generosity of spirit that inspired others to be their best selves. His laughter, wisdom, and the warmth of his presence will be profoundly missed but never forgotten.
