On Thursday, July 2, 2026, at approximately 7:19 p.m., the Clare County Central Dispatch received a report that two men had been stabbed at a residence on South Corning Street in the Village of Farwell, Surrey Township, Clare County.
Deputies with the Clare County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene and located two victims, a 47-year-old Farwell man and a 60-year-old Farwell man. Both victims had sustained non-life-threatening stab wounds and were treated for their injuries.
The investigation determined that Wishes Chance Bordine, 25, of Mount Pleasant, and a 67-year-old Mount Pleasant man had gone to the residence to pick up Bordine's mother, believing she no longer wished to remain at the home. After they arrived, an argument reportedly occurred between those at the residence.
According to the investigation, Bordine attempted to escort his mother toward the vehicle they had arrived in. When one of the men at the residence attempted to intervene, Bordine allegedly produced a knife and stabbed the man multiple times. A second man then intervened to assist the first victim and sustained a stab wound to the face during the altercation.
Following the incident, Bordine, his mother, and the 67-year-old man left the residence in their vehicle. As the vehicle was leaving, one of the stabbing victims retrieved a 12-gauge shotgun and fired two rounds at the vehicle in an apparent attempt to disable it.
A Clare County Sheriff's deputy located the vehicle a short time later and made contact with the occupants. Bordine was taken into custody without further incident.
Bordine was lodged at the Clare County Jail and charged with two counts of Assault with Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm Less Than Murder and two counts of Felonious Assault.
Bordine was arraigned in the 80th District Court in Clare County, where bond was set at $100,000 cash or surety.
