Margaret “Margo” Marie Zelinski

Margaret “Margo” Marie Zelinski age 57 of Clare, passed away peacefully after courageously fighting a long illness on Monday, February 19, 2024, at Trinity Health -Grand Rapids. Margaret was born Saturday, May 7, 1966 in Pontiac, Michigan the daughter of Robert E. Zelinski and Joan Therese (St. Dennis) Zelinski. Margaret graduated from Walled Lake Central High School in 1984. She furthered her education by obtaining her Bachelor’s degree in Transportation Management from Baker College of Flint in 2012.  Margo was united in marriage to Mr. Larry Ferdinand Cohorst on February 22, 2022 in Harison.

Margo had resided in Clare for two years, moving from Harrison, where she had resided since 2012, moving from Genesee County, Michigan. Margo spent several years as an active member, promoter and planner for local Whitetails Unlimited events. She was a coach for The Mt. Pleasant Drillers 14 U Team, was a member of Harrison WOTM Chapter 1804, past member and volunteer of Harrison Area Chamber of Commerce. Margo had worked for Auxillio Transportation as a bus driver, prior to her illness. In past years, she worked as a truck driver, waste hauling operator and concrete delivery (mixer operator) as well as school bus driver. Margaret enjoyed traveling, cruises with family and friends, camping, kayaking, crocheting, hunting, attending concerts, assisting with many fundraisers, playing and coaching softball, decorating her home, she loved party planning, watching baseball and football games and making sure the high school athletes arrived to and from their games safely.

Surviving Margaret is her husband, Larry Ferdinand Cohorst of Clare, two daughters; Tiffany Barber and husband Rickey of Mt. Pleasant and Nicole Hoenstine and Jeff Whalen also of Mt. Pleasant, one step-daughter, Kristin Partaka and husband Jason of Gladwin, Michigan, four grandchildren; Chloe Barber, Sophia Barber, Aubree Whalen and Jackson Whalen, one sister, Sharon Trudeau and husband Tim of Metamora, Michigan, one brother, Robert Zelinski and wife Stacy of Waterford, Michigan, ten nieces and nephews; Christopher Lundgren, Mark Meyers and wife Megan, Carolyn Meyers, Alyssa Ferguson, Zachary Zelinski, Zarek Zelinski, Kate Zelinski, Aaron Lang, Gracelyn Dadacki and Jack Dadacki, her close friend and father of her daughters, Jack Hoenstine and wife Brandy Gabrys-Hoenstine of Harrison, plus many extended family and close friends. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Sue Stevens.

Celebration of Life services honoring Margo will be held Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. from Clark-Stocking Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service, 165 West Oak St., Harrison, with Mr. Ben Evers officiating. A time of gathering and sharing of memories and stories will be held Saturday, March 2, 2024 from 10:30 a.m. until time of service.
