Lanora A. Schutz age 86 of Harrison passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 26, 2025. Lanora was born July 14, 1939, in Evart, Michigan, the daughter of Lucille (Carey) Gardner and Leslie Gardner. Lanora had resided in Harrison for most of her lifetime, moving from Evart. Lanora was united in marriage to Mr. Gale Alton Schutz on June 8, 1957, at Long Lake Chapel, Harrison. Mr. Schutz preceded Lanora in death on June 7, 2014, after fifty-six years of marriage.
Mrs. Schutz retired from National City Bank, formerly First of America and Mid-Michigan Bank of Harrison as an Investment Banker with over twenty-five years of service combined. She also served as Frost Township Clerk for over twenty-five years. Lanora enjoyed bird and squirrel watching and feeding, she adored her home and surroundings and was happiest caring for her grandchildren over the years.
Lanora is survived by her four children; Susan Houtrow and husband Shannon of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Sandra Bowen and husband Kim of Whitehall, Michigan, Steve Schutz and wife Montie of Harrison and Scott Schutz Sr. and wife Sheila of Gladwin, Michigan, thirteen grandchildren; Daniel Houtrow, Grace Mapp, Abigail Houtrow, Patrick Bowen, Mary Bowen-Hearn, Gage Schutz, Sara Bidigair, Scott Schutz Jr., Katie Schutz, Kurtis Dell, Phillip Schneider, Kameron Stepaniak and Daniel Stepaniak, five siblings; Shirley Crawford of Gladwin, Charlotte Kinsey of Florida, Durand Gardner and wife Elva of Harrison, Alfred Gardner and wife Kathy of Gladwin and Jan Haskin and husband Don of Harrison, one sister-in-law, Paula Gardner of Cass City, Michigan plus many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Lanora also was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Bruce Gardner and two brothers-in-law: Clark Kinsey and Dick Crawford.
Funeral services honoring Lanora will be held Sunday, November 2, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. from Clark-Stocking Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service, 165 W. Oak St., Harrison. Visitation will take place on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 5:30-8:00 p.m. at Clark-Stocking Funeral Chapel and will resume on Sunday, November 2, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. until time of service. A luncheon will immediately follow services at Reflections Reception Center, adjacent to the funeral home. Memorial gifts in memory of Lanora may be considered to Heartland Hospice; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
