Clare Fire Department release

At 9:27 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, the Clare Fire department was dispatched to 11035 N. Meridian Road in Isabella County for a report of a trailer on fire next to the house with the house also on fire. On arrival firefighters found the travel trailer totally consumed by fire and the east end of the house on fire.

Surrey Township Fire Department responded to a request for mutual aid, arriving right behind the Clare FD. Firefighters entered the front door of the structure and were able to literally push the fire right out the end of the building. Firefighters were able to save much of the home and its contents. The end of the house suffered extensive fire damage. The fire was brought under control in 30 minutes and firefighters remained on scene for an additional hour and a half to mop up hotspots.

The homeowner, Angela Tate, was home at the time of the fire and was able to escape. The home was not insured. There were no injuries, but MMR Ambulance Service was on scene to assist if needed.
