Harrison Woman Sentenced to 4-40 Years Prison Time

Kristina Curns of Harrison pleaded guilty to several controlled substance offenses on March 23. In June and July of 2022, Curns was the subject of several investigations by law enforcement. On June 19, she was investigated by the Michigan State Police for Possessing a Controlled Substance (Cocaine/Heroin/other narcotic) under 25 grams. On June 25, she was investigated by the Clare County Sheriff’s Department for Possessing a Controlled Substance (Cocaine/Heroin/other narcotic) under 25 grams; Driving while license suspended; and operating a motor vehicle without security. On July 19, she was investigated by MINT for Delivery of Methamphetamine and Delivery of (Cocaine/Heroin/or another narcotic) under 50 grams. It was alleged that she delivered fentanyl. And, finally, on July 24 she was investigated by the Clare County Sheriff’s Department for Possession of Methamphetamine.

Criminal charges stemming from all of the investigations were filed by the Clare County Prosecutor’s Office. On March 23, Curns pleaded guilty to the following charges that spanned over three separate case files, with the fourth case file dismissed pursuant to the plea agreement:

Delivery/Manufacture Methamphetamine; Delivery/Manufacture of (Cocaine/Heroin/or another narcotic) under 50 grams [fentanyl]; Possession of a Controlled Substance (Cocaine/Heroin/other narcotic) under 25 grams [fentanyl], 2nd or subsequent offense notice; Possession of a Controlled Substance (Cocaine/Heroin/other narcotic) under 25 grams [fentanyl], 2nd or subsequent offense notice.

Curns was sentenced on May 15 by Judge Roy Mienk to a prison term for each of the convictions. She was ordered to serve 4 years to 40 years on both delivery convictions, with credit for 276 days served. She was ordered to serve 17 months to 8 years on each of the possession convictions with credit for 320 days served in the one file and 319 days served in the other file. All sentences are to run concurrently with one another. She was also ordered to pay a combined total of $1,262 in fines, costs, and associated fees.
