The Harrison volleyball team has been red hot of late. The Lady Hornets topped host Pinconning on Wednesday, Oct. 1, and their four set Jack Pine Conference win was their third in a row and fourth in their last five contests.
Offensively, we played awesome,” head coach Maddie Hamina said of the 17-25, 25-21, 25-21 and 25-16 victory. “Everyone contributed to the win and each one of them has improved tremendously. Lydia Kendall’s and Cait Kirby’s offensive game helped give energy and excitement.”
Kendall finished the night with 14 kills, eight digs and one ace and Kirby had four kills, and she was 10-of-11 serving, Mya Gardner finished with 15 assists, 16 digs and she had five aces to go along with 23-of-25 serving. Brianna Graves had 10 assists, 11 digs, she served 12-of-13 with one ace and Hayley Neff had one ace on top of five-of-five serving.
Cadence Hardy had a solid night too, getting eight kills, four aces and she was 18-of-19 serving. Alivia Winters attacked for six kills, Layla Sharp had two kills, and Sam Hopkins was a perfect seven-of-seven serving and she tracked down 17 digs.
Celebrating small wins and successes have motivated these girls,” Hamina said. “We are only halfway through the season, and I am so proud of the hard work they put in.”
Harrison heads to Farwell today (Thursday) and will host Ogemaw Heights on Monday. They will also play at Bullock Creek on Wednesday, Oct. 15 and host Standish-Sterling on Monday, Oct. 20.
