GERALDINE LOUISE TAYLOR DYKE STARKEY

Geraldine Louise Taylor Dyke Starkey, Age 89 went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on July 19, 2021.

She arrived on earth August 11, 1931, the second born child of Benjamin and Anita Taylor.  She graduated from Honor High School in 1951 and attended Great Lakes Bible College in Zion IL for the next two years.  She met and married David Dyke in 1954 moving to Harrison Michigan to raise their family.

David preceded her in death in 1986.  Geraldine married David Starkey in 1996.  They moved to Stoy, Illinois and lived there until 2014.  Upon the death of David Starkey, Geraldine moved back to Michigan to live with her daughter Glenda. 

Geraldine is preceded in death by her parents; husbands David Dyke and David Starkey; daughter Norma Jean Geekins; and brother Robert Taylor.

She is survived by her siblings, Betty Wortz, Ben (Maxine) Taylor, and Wayne Taylor; children, Glenda Rader (George), Ken Dyke (Tammy), Gary Dyke (Diane), and son-in-law Tony Geekins; Eight grandchildren- Jennifer Geekins, Shaun Geekins, Nick, Ike, Molly, and Greg Dyke, Stacy Hale, Jessie Merritt (TJ); Nine great grandchildren – Brooklyn Gray, Anna Geekins, Lily Horton, James and Tessa Hale, Sydney Geekins, Tucker and Isabel Merritt, and Bo Dyke; two great-great grandchildren- Bentlee Konfrst and Maleah Mcatee;  and a host of others who called her “Mom”, “Sister”, “Grandma”, and “Aunt Gerry.”

Geraldine leaves a legacy of faith, as she considered her most important mission in life to pray for and nurture a love for Jesus in the hearts of her children, grandchildren and the many children she taught in Sunday School and Missionettes.  She was quick to serve her Lord by serving the physical needs of her family, church family, friends, and neighbors.  She will be remembered for her quiet, humble, spirit.

Funeral services honoring Mrs. Starkey will be held Saturday, July 24, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. from Trinity Christian Life Center, 236 Park Street, Harrison, Michigan 48625. Visitation will be taking place Friday, July 23, 2021, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Harrison.
