Gene E. Brimer, age 70 of Winter Haven, FL., formerly of Harrison, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 19, 2026, at the Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center in Lakeland, FL.
On July 26, 1956, Gene was born the son of Charles and Karen (Long) Brimer in Detroit. Gene’s childhood and early adult years were spent in Lincoln Park, MI., and he was a graduate of the Lincoln Park High School Class of 1974. For a brief time after graduating, Gene worked Logomatic Industries in Taylor, MI before entering service in the United States Navy.
In 2000, Gene moved to Harrison to remain close to family where he enjoyed his community and his Hope Baptist Church family before moving to Lacombe, LA in 2012 and then to Lakeland/Winter Haven, FL. in 2017.
Gene enjoyed travelling, having ridden his motorcycle coast to coast in his younger years and cruises with his family more recently. He was a NASCAR enthusiast, and he also followed the Detroit Tigers and Lions, but his daily gameshows Price is Right and Let’s Make A Deal were Gene’s true non-negotiables. Outside of his home, Gene’s favorite places were the Central Baptist Church of Winter Haven, where he was an active member, and any of his three special restaurants—Longhorn’s, Raisin’ Canes, or Culver’s.
Gene is survived by his mother Karen Brimer of Winter Haven, FL., his siblings Terri (Sam) Tention of Eagle Lake, FL., Arnold Brimer of Lake Alfred, FL., and Jason (Jennifer) Brimer, of Dummond Island, MI. Other survivors include his many cherished nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Gene was preceded in death by his father Charles Brimer.
A funeral service in honor of Gene will take place on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at 12:00 P.M. at the Clare Chapel of the Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home with Evangelist Pat Bolton officiating. Friends may visit with the Brimer family on Thursday, Oct. 29 from 10:00 A.M until the time of service at 12:00 P.M. Graveside services will follow in the Hilcrest Cemetery of Harrison. For those unable to attend services, online condolences may be shared on the Brimer family tribute page at www.stephenson-wyman.com.
