Financial updates and road projects discussed at CCRC meeting

HARRISON – The Clare County Road Commission meeting on July 7 started with the approval of minutes and followed by the approval of accounts payable.

The CCRC’s cash balance was $761,936.80, with deposits totaling $897,577.34 and after charges of $838,907.13, leaves the commission with a balance of $820,535.64.

During public comments, Jim Lard, Garfield Township Trustee, said that the township passed a road millage. The millage will help the township fund road projects, such as brining the roads and more in the future.

Gabe Ambrozaitis also spoke and said that the Michigan Aviation Commission votes on July 15 for grants. He said that the airport committee hopes to get the crack ceiling grant for the Harrison airport and will let the commissioners know if they receive it.

In old business, Dwayne Rogers, manager, gave an update on the new CCRC building that the electrical, paint, landscaping, irrigation and septic field are projects that are being worked on.

The commissioners approved of the 2026 - 2031 MDOT maintenance contract, which is approved every five years alongside the emergency purchase agreement.

Current CCRC Projects include:

  • Completed the crack ceiling and the CCRC plans to pave an extra two miles on Townline Lake Road
  • Removed stumps and apply soybean oil on Rogers Road
  • The commission is working on an estimate to reconstruct Brand Road with gravel
  • Put gravel on Lincoln Road
  • Apply slag to Hillcrest Road
  • Pave Davis Street and Temple Drive
