Final Friday Night Delight Sees Large, Appreciative Crowd

HARRISON – The summer’s final Friday Night Delights performance was held Sept. 1 at Harrison Town Square, where the eclectic mix of musical styles and genres of Gabe Couch and Tom House entertained a large and appreciative crowd. Their highly skilled musicianship was obvious, and frequent infusions of humorous commentary were well received.

Country Flowers and More, and Blooms & Co. co-sponsored this final performance, and the love for flowers was shared by gifting beautiful long-stemmed roses throughout the crowd – hand delivered by some truly charming children.

And, speaking of children, the Town Square Splash Pad was kept busy delighting and cooling the kids throughout the evening.

While this was the final Friday Night Delight performance, there is still one thing say: but wait, there’s more. The previous Harrison Chamber of Commerce-sponsored signoff to summer event, Rock the Dock, has had a change of venue to a dryer, thus safer, location. That party is now dubbed Rock the Block and will be held Sept. 9 in Harrison’s downtown. Street closures will include Second Street between Main and Norway, with a beer tent in the first section of Second Street and the stage at the intersection with Beech Street. Vendors, along with cornhole and other games also will be part of the fun.

Representatives of Harrison Robotics were once again on hand at the final Friday Night Delight selling their fundraising raffle tickets. Grand Prize is a AXIX 500 UTV with Winter SPV Camo finish valued at $11,499 and provided by Lowe’s of Midland. Second Prize is a $500 gift card from Steve’s Country Market. And Third Prize is a $150 weekday golf package at The Tamaracks [two players, 18 holes with cart, plus hat and hoodie]. The $20 tickets will be available again at the Sept. 9 Rock the Block event. If a total of 1,000 tickets are not sold, the Grand Prize reverts to a 50/50 drawing. The drawing will be held the following week from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13 at Trail’s End Restaurant in Harrison. The winning ticket holder need not be present to win. All proceeds will go to benefit Harrison Robotics, which has expanded from the high school to include teams from the middle and elementary schools.
