A 56-year-old Farwell woman was killed Friday night following a single-vehicle crash in Clare County, according to the Clare County Sheriff’s Office.
At approximately 9:20 p.m. on May 15, Clare County Central Dispatch received reports of a crash on Surrey Road near North Road in Surrey Township. Initial reports indicated that a vehicle had left the roadway and struck a tree, with one person reportedly ejected from the vehicle.
Deputies from the Clare County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene along with the Surrey Township Fire Department and Mobile Medical Response Ambulance Service.
Investigators determined that Christa May Bollinger, 56, of Farwell, was driving a white Buick Lucerne westbound on Surrey Road when the vehicle crossed the center line, left the roadway on the south side, and struck two trees.
Bollinger was the sole occupant of the vehicle. She was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected during the crash due to the impact.
Bollinger suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the sheriff’s office, speed and intoxicants are believed to have been factors in the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
The Clare County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Surrey Township Fire Department and Mobile Medical Response Ambulance Service.
