Elm Creek Ltd ‘Sewing with Smiles’ Club Makes Placemats for Meals on Wheels

On Feb. 2 at The Event, Elm Creek Ltd. announced its brand-new program to provide Placemats to the Clare County Meals on Wheels program, enabling local sewers and crafters to donate homemade placemats to our local community members served by this wonderful program.  The “Meals on wheels” program enables the local community to improve the health and quality of life of the seniors they serve so that no one is left hungry or isolated.

Currently, the club has over 20 “sewers” providing beautiful placemats meant to cheer up and produce a Smile on every senior’s face who receives one of these beautiful handmade treasures but is encouraging New Members to join and volunteer their time and efforts to this worthy cause.  The placemats are “Themed” with the first give away being Valentine’s Day and future themes being planned around Easter, the 4th of July, Fall, Halloween and Christmas.  Elm Creek Ltd. provides a free pattern for club members to use in making the placemats.  The club is even creating and providing “bowl cozies” for rewarming meals.

The club gives a huge thank you to those club members who have already made hundreds of placemats for this latest Valentines theme, and looks forward to seeing all the beautiful placemats for the upcoming themes.  The deadline for the Easter themed placemats is April 1.
