The Clare volleyball team opened up their season back on Aug. 19, when they were at a tri-meet over in Ludington, where they also took on Reed City. The Lady Pioneers were able to split their matches, taking down the host Lady Orioles 25-22, 21-25 and 25-23, but they fell to Reed City, 25-18 and 25-13.

“I am very impressed with our team and how well they are connecting after only having two practices leading into Ludington,” head coach Erin Murphy said. “We are fine tuning our 6-2 offense and are looking great.”

Stats from the match against Ludington included Amelia Ryzyk getting five kills, 12 digs, 14 assists and two blocks. Bri Smith had four kills, nine digs and one ace and Breez Yarger managed two kills, six digs and she served up three aces.

Clare returned to action on Monday down at Beal City, they hosted Alma on Wednesday and they’ll make a trip to Farwell on Wednesday, Sept. 9 for what will be their Jack Pine Conference opener.
