[CLARE] – Clare-Gladwin Career and Technical Education (CTE) announces the expansion of its educational offerings with the introduction of the Diesel and Heavy Equipment Technology program in partnership with Northern Logistics.   This addition to the curriculum prepares high school students with the skills and knowledge needed for careers as diesel service technicians, mechanics and heavy equipment operators.

“We saw a need for training in the diesel and heavy equipment field based on feedback from local businesses and interest from our students,” said CTE Director Eric Johnson. “This program will provide students with the hands-on experience to start a career repairing, servicing, and maintaining semi-trucks, buses, farm and construction equipment.”

CTE plays an essential role in delivering vocational education and skilled trades training to high school juniors and seniors from Clare, Beaverton, Harrison, Gladwin and Farwell. Its comprehensive range of programs includes Advanced Manufacturing, Agricultural Science, Automotive Technology, Construction Trades, Criminal Justice, Culinary Arts, Health Occupations, Digital Media, Welding and Education Occupations. The addition of the Diesel and Heavy Equipment Technology class further enhances the already diverse curriculum offered by CTE.

Students in this program will receive instruction from industry experts at Northern Logistics, a leader in the diesel technology field. This collaboration ensures that students benefit from the latest industry advancements.

“This new CTE program is a unique opportunity for students to gain entry-level knowledge in today’s ever-growing industry that makes the economic infrastructure move,” said Jason Partaka, CTE Diesel and Heavy Equipment Instructor. “The applied learning the students develop through this course will teach them the fundamental skills working with diesel engines and heavy-duty equipment while providing them with valuable field experience.”
