Citizens Take Advantage of Fall Cleanout Opportunity

Posted

HARRISON – Residents of the City of Harrison, Hayes Township and Greenwood Township came out to participate in the 9th Annual Recycling Day held Sept. 16 at Harrison City Park, taking advantage of the opportunity to rid themselves of household waste in an environmentally responsible way. Items being collected this year included passenger vehicle tires, electronics, metals, car batteries, household plumbing and wiring.

As always, this was a private-citizens-only event, with no businesses allowed to participate.

Another favorite service returning this year was a shredding station where accumulated paper records and personal papers could be sliced into oblivion, protecting privacy while taming over-bulging files.

And what would Recycling Day be without the hard-working volunteers from the three participating entities? Their work included directing recyclers to the correct stations, helping haul and stack items into trailers and trucks, and continually answering questions. All were onboard with keeping the mood light and focus on the task at hand: helping to keep communities clean and healthy by eliminating unwanted/unsightly accumulations of metals and tires, plumbing fixtures, and more.

Once again, a job well done.
