Central Michigan District Health Department Promoting COVID-19 and Seasonal Flu Vaccine Clinics

Posted

Central Michigan District Health Department (CMDHD) is pleased to announce that both the updated Moderna COVID-19 vaccine and the 2023-24 seasonal flu vaccine are available. In an ongoing effort to protect the health and well-being of our community, CMDHD has vaccine clinics available both by appointment and walk in, to make these vaccines accessible to all residents aged 6 months and older. Clinic information can be found at https://www.cmdhd.org/countyimmunizations.

"We are committed to providing safe and convenient access to COVID-19 and flu vaccines for everyone," said Steve Hall, CMDHD Health Officer. "These vaccines are essential tools to keep our community safe in our fight against respiratory illness." Studies conducted throughout the COVID-19 pandemic indicate that it is safe to get both a flu vaccine and a COVID-19 vaccine at the same visit. [Centers for Disease Control] vaccination is one of the most effective tools in combating the COVID-19 virus. With the recently approved new Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, CMDHD is now offering this latest vaccine version, which provides enhanced protection against the emerging variant of the virus. The latest information on COVID-19 can be found at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/.

Clinical trials have shown a strong immune response against some of the most common COVID-19 variants. This vaccine is a much-needed safeguard to help protect you as COVID cases continue to rise, and previous vaccine protection wanes.

As we enter flu season, CMDHD also strongly encourages everyone to get their seasonal flu vaccine.

Getting vaccinated against the flu is a crucial public health measure, as it helps reduce the spread of the virus, lowers the risk of severe illness, and safeguards vulnerable populations. Learn more about the seasonal flu at https://www.cdc.gov/flu/season/faq-flu-season-2023-2024.htm.
