Central Michigan District Health Department Awarded $10,000 Grant for Clare County Rx Kids Program

Posted

Central Michigan District Health Department (CMDHD) has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the Clare County Community Foundation to support the Clare County Rx Kids program. Funding is provided by the John A. and Audrey Brown Memorial Endowment Fund and the Clare County Health Improvement Endowment Fund.

Rx Kids provides cash assistance to help families with the high cost of welcoming and raising a baby. Eligible Clare County residents receive $1,500 during pregnancy and $500 a month for the first six months after birth -- no strings attached. Clare County residents may apply at rxkids.org/communities/clare-county if they are at least 16 weeks pregnant or they have an infant born on or after August 1, 2025.

“We are grateful to the Clare County Community Foundation for their generosity,” said Steve Hall, CMDHD Health Officer. “Thanks to Rx Kids and local funding partners like the Community Foundation, we can give Clare County families the support they need to welcome a new baby and build a healthier future.”

Rx Kids is a program of Michigan State University Pediatric Public Health Initiative, in collaboration with Poverty Solutions at the University of Michigan and administered by GiveDirectly. Learn more about Rx Kids at rxkids.org.

“The Clare County Community Foundation exists to cultivate the power of giving within our community, support long-term transformation, and help ensure all residents thrive,” according to the Community Foundation. Learn more at clareccf.org.
