2021 Hecker-Reigle-Hughes 28th reunion

Posted

The HRH reunion resumed after a 2020 COVID hiatus on Aug 7. Organized by Kathy Dickenson, it was a congenial group with a lot of catching up to do.

Present were the Dickenson family: dad Kris, mom Kathy, son Tyler and daughter Kaetlynn. Tyler will be a freshman at Clare High School this year while Kaetlynn will be a senior. (She states she fully intends to lord this over him all year.)

Also present were sisters Robin Goodwin and Rhonda Turner. Rhonda reports she has adopted a large black shepherd/golden retriever named Dexter who is settling in at her home beautifully. Larry Farnham was present (and insists Dexter is mainly a Lab.)

We share their sorrow at the passing last year of wife and mother Leda Farnham.

Tom and Barb Hecker were just back from a family reunion in Kewadin. They are enjoying life on Arnold Lake, especially peaceful evening cruises on their pontoon boat.

Honorary HRH cousin Rose Stevens (“Mama Rose” to Wilda Mosher’s kids) was there with tales of visits to New Jersey and Idaho to visit children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is richly blessed with family.

Janet Dunkle was present and is still caring for Darell with much help from hospice, for which she expresses much gratitude.

Glen Linton shared stories of his beloved Beth who passed last year, especially her career as a compassionate and gifted neonatal nurse. He also spoke of his work as a spiritual mentor for young men in his church as well as the work he and Beth did as foster parents.

Wilda Hecker Mosher’s children, Cathy Mosher, Ann Savickas, and Bill Mosher were present. Bill was there with wife Robyn. The remaining siblings, Barb and Sue, have settled in Texas, where Wilda spent her final years. Wilda passed last September, still pining for her Harrison home and community. Retired nurse Barb took devoted care of her. She was surrounded by all her children in her last weeks. Wilda’s cousin’s bonfires were remembered fondly by those at the reunion.

We all missed regular attendees, Jan Hughes (who was skeptical about traveling), Maureen Hecker Herbruck (who left Michigan to be closer to children) and Bobby Hecker, who is recovering from recent back surgery.

A hearty potluck was served, featuring delicious pulled pork, sloppy joes and a tasty selection of salads and desserts. Many thanks to Kathy Dickenson and her family for organizing this wonderful event. The Greenwood Township Hall was an inspired choice (air conditioning! Indoor bathrooms! Kitchen facilities!)

We look forward to the 2022 reunion.

Respectfully submitted,

Ann Savickas
