Woman Succumbs to House Fire Injuries

HARRISON – The Harrison Community Fire Department was called out at 12:08 p.m. Saturday, May 11 to a residential fire at 6870 Carpenter Road near Dodge Lake.

Fire Chief Chris Damvelt reported that a 76-year-old woman was found unconscious inside the back door of what Damvelt believed to be the kitchen area, and that CPR was administered. She was then transported to the hospital where she passed away from her injuries.

Damvelt added that, additionally, a dog and two cats were lost in the fire.

Assisting at the scene were the Clare and Gladwin fire departments.

The fire is being investigated by the Michigan State Police.
