William “Teddy” Hampshire Courtney

William “Teddy” Hampshire Courtney age 77 of Harrison, Michigan, passed away suddenly at his home on Saturday, November 23, 2024. William was born Tuesday, February 11, 1947, in St. Louis, Missouri the son of William P. Courtney and Shirley Jean (Hampshire) Courtney. William graduated from Ritenour High School in 1965. Soon after graduating high school, William honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Mr. Courtney retired from Delta Airlines in 2020 with fifty years of dedicated and honorable employment.

Teddy had resided in Harrison since 2021, moving from Peachtree City, Georgia. He was a life member of VFW Post 1075-Harrison. Teddy enjoyed life; especially when he was surrounded by those he loved. He was passionate about living life to the fullest and spending time exploring the beauty of nature. Teddy was an avid photographer, and artist. He found pleasure in gifting his artwork to family and friends. He patterned his life around living in the moment and making the most out of his life.

Surviving Teddy is his lifetime companion and best friend, Teresa “Terri” Deschaw of Harrison, his two children; Shannon Runge of St. Charles, Missouri and Will Courtney of Peachtree City, Georgia, extended children; Ryan Deschaw and wife Marie of Commerce Township, Michigan and Renee Evans and husband Brian of Walled Lake, Michigan, eleven grandchildren; Winter, Wyland, Seven, Luca, Isis, Justice, Michael, Dylan, Gavin, Henry and Gwyneth, one brother, Patrick Courtney of St. Louis, one sister, Anna Sherman and husband Bruce of Alexandria, Virginia, two nieces; Jennifer and husband Jeff and Becca and husband AJ, two nephews; Steffan and Brandon, plus many extended family, friends and Teddy’s beloved fur baby, Molly of Harrison. Teddy was preceded in death by his parents and one extended son, Michael Deschaw.
