VERNON “VERN” L. NORMAN

                Vernon “Vern” L. Norman age 96 of Harrison passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at Woodland Hospice House, Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. Vernon was born April 14, 1926, in Holland Township, Missaukee County, Michigan, the son of Archie and Cora (Bradley) Norman. Vernon graduated from Merritt High School in 1943. Immediately following his graduation, Mr. Norman enlisted in the United States Army and honorably served his country during World War II. Soon after his honorable discharge from the Army, Vernon was united in marriage to the late Josephine Lillian Kippen on July 29, 1950 in Missaukee County. Josephine preceded Vern in death on April 20, 2022, after seventy-one years of marriage.

                Vern had resided in Harrison since 1965, moving from Moddersville, Michigan. He retired from the State of Michigan Department of Natural Resources Fire Division after thirty years of service as a Fire Officer. Vern was a Life Member of the American Legion Post 404 of Harrison. Vern enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, his yearly trips with family and friends to deer camp, traveling to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula to camp with his family, as well as he enjoyed the beauty and splendor of the UP.

Surviving Mr. Norman are his loving children:  Ricky Norman of Harrison, Cathy Labadie of Harrison, Connie Blatt and husband Roger of Harrison, Daniel “Boone” Norman also of Harrison, Cora Martin and husband Ron of Gaylord, Michigan and Russ Norman and wife Kelly of Midland, Michigan, four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Vern was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Tony Norman, one great-granddaughter, Maddie Rice, one son in law, Mr. Rod Labadie, and his five brothers: Gordon Norman, Ernie Norman, Ora Norman, Ray Norman and Jim Norman.

Funeral services honoring Mr.  Norman will be held Saturday, June 18, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. from Clark-Stocking Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service Inc., 165 West Oak Street, Harrison with Pastor Connie Bongard officiating. Visitation will take place Saturday, June 18, 2022 from 11:30 a.m. until time of service.
