VERNA JEAN (PENFIELD) CUDNEY

Verna Jean (Penfield) Cudney, longtime resident of Leota, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at North Woods Nursing Center, Farwell, Michigan. Born on May 22, 1929 in Grand Ledge, Michigan, the daughter of Leonard F. and Leah R. (Toms) Penfield. She was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Cudney, brothers, Dale R. and Clare L. Penfield, and her parents, Leonard F. Penfield and Leah R. (Toms) Edgecomb and stepfather Carl L. Edgecomb. She is survived by a sister, Shirley Ann (Penfield) Shortz, sons, William G. (Diane), Kent L. (K.C.) and Lynn R. (Karen), five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Verna Jean was a long-time member of both the Grand Ledge Baptist and Leota Community Churches, serving each faithfully. The family wishes to thank North Woods Nursing Center of Farwell and its incredible staff for the love and care she received while a resident there. The family is being served by Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison, in conjunction with Peters and Murray Funeral Home, Grand Ledge. Visitation will be held Monday, May 18, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Peters and Murray Funeral Home, with funeral services beginning at 1:00 p.m.  Burial will take place in Oakwood Cemetery, Grand Ledge.
