Unoccupied House Razed by Fire

The Clare Fire Department responded at 11:29 p.m. Friday, July 18 to a report of a possible structure fire on S. Rogers Road south of Beaverton Road in Sheridan Township. On arrival they found a two-story house at 8387 S. Rogers Road fully involved and partially collapsed. The home was unoccupied and going to be torn down.

Chief Chapman of the Clare Fire Department said this is believed to be a suspicious fire as it was unoccupied and the electric had been disconnected from the structure. Anyone with any information about this fire is asked to contact the Clare Fire Department at 989-386-2151. There may be a reward for information leading to an arrest in regard to this fire. The fire is being investigated by the Michigan State Police.

There were no injuries and the home was not insured. The Clare Fire Department was on scene for 3 1/2 hours and was assisted by Surrey Township Fire Department.
