Undersheriff Reminds to Remember Officers Lost, Thanks Those Continuing to Serve

New Deputies Introduced to Commissioners

Posted

HARRISON – During the first Public Comment at the May 17 meeting of the Clare County Board of Commissioners, Undersheriff Dwayne Miedzianowski took a moment to introduce new deputies serving in the Clare County Sheriff’s Office. These latest three deputies who rose for their introductions included: Nathaniel Bladecki who came from a surrounding county corrections division; Ryan Newcomb from the Clare area; and Dave Chinavare, also a Clare area native.

“We sponsored all three through the Delta Police Academy, and they graduated recently,” Miedzianowski said. “And they’re in the Field Officer Training Program.”

The undersheriff noted the good fortune of getting a grant to cover much of the cost.

“It cost us $12,000 to send them to the police academy vs. $60,000 under the grant” he said. “They’ll be great additions, and we look forward to having them.”

His introduction was followed by a round of “Welcome” from commissioners along with applause.

Miedzianowski again spoke during the final Public Comment at the end of the meeting. He reminded that National Telecommunications Week was marked in April, that recently there was National Correctional Officers Week in May, and the current week was National Police Week.

“I think it’s very important we recognize the loss of Mounted Deputy Nichole Shuff-Balint and Deputy Kevin Sherwood – and never forget that,” he said. “We also thank all the brave men and women that protect and serve us every day to make this community better. Thank you.”
