Two Lake Men Arrested Day After Shooting Incident in Surrey Twp

Justin Brian Baker, 24, and Connor McFalls, 21, both of Lake, are facing charges stemming from an investigation that began with a “shots fired” call to Clare County Central Dispatch on August 28, 2020 around 10:30 p.m. in the area of Old State and Surrey Road in Surrey Township. It is not clear from the investigation whether the shots were fired at a particular house or in some other direction. Deputies located a green colored older model Toyota RAV SUV in the area that was alleged to have been involved in the incident and attempted to stop it. The vehicle fled from Deputies and was later apprehended the next day. The handgun believed to be used in the incident has been recovered by Deputies.   

Prosecutor Michelle Ambrozaitis charged McFalls with Weapons – Discharge from a Vehicle and Weapons – Carrying Concealed. He was arraigned in the 80th District Court on September 1, 2020, and bond was established at $60,000 cash/surety/10%. A probable cause conference has been scheduled for September 14, 2020, with a preliminary examination scheduled for September 21, 2020.

Ambrozaitis charged Baker with Aiding and Abetting Weapons – Discharge from a Vehicle, two counts of Flee and Elude 4th degree, and possession of methamphetamine as a fourth habitual offender. Baker’s bond was set at $250,000 cash surety 10%.

Both remain lodged in jail.
