Two Injured in Truck-Buggy Crash in Clare County

On 11/27/2022, at 8:36p.m. Clare County Central Dispatch received a call of a vehicle versus Amish buggy, personal injury traffic crash on East Colonville Rd. near South Brand Ave.in Sheridan Township of Clare County. Responding deputies arrived on scene and found that a 2002 Ford Ranger pick-up being driven by a 26 year old Clare man was traveling West on Colonville Rd. and collided into the rear of an Amish buggy occupied by 52 year old Jay Stutzman and 53 year old, Irene Stutzman of Clare. The driver of the truck sustained no injuries as result of the crash. The Stutzman’s were both treated at the scene for severe injuries as a result of the crash by Mobile Medical Response Ambulance service and transported to a down state hospital where they are both listed in critical condition. It was determined that the Amish buggy had functioning flashing lights on at the time of the crash. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
