Two Harrison Men Arrested by MSP After Fleeing Traffic Stop

Posted

HARRISON, MICH. On March 26, 2021 at approximately 6:24 p.m., troopers from the Mount Pleasant Post initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the parking lot at the Harrison Family Fare Store. The vehicle failed to stop and accelerated away at a high rate of speed. The vehicle drove recklessly through the
parking lot and into a field adjacent to the parking lot. Troopers lost sight of the vehicle as it drove into a wooded area and pathway near the Richard Drive Apartments.

Troopers and Clare County Sheriff’s Department Deputies canvassed the area near the Richard Drive Apartments but were initially unable to locate the suspect vehicle.

Troopers then observed two individuals, a 25-year-old man and a 27-year-old man, both from Harrison, running through a wooded area near the apartments. A foot pursuit was initiated, and the 25-year-old
man was quickly apprehended. The 27-year-old man ran into a local business and was later apprehended. Investigation resulted in the location of contraband discarded by the suspects to include suspected methamphetamine and a taser disguised as a cell phone.

The two men were found to be on parole out of Clare County. The 27-year-old man, who had been
operating the vehicle, had an outstanding warrant for a parole violation and a suspended driver's license.

Both men were lodged at the Clare County Jail.
