STANLEY “STAN THE MAN” GENE LEWIS

                Stanley “Stan the Man” Gene Lewis age 70 of Harrison, passed away Sunday, December 12, 2021, at MyMichigan Medical Center-Midland. Mr. Lewis was born Monday, December 18, 1950, in Ypsilanti, Michigan the son of Wilker S. Lewis and Barbara A. (Williams) Lewis. Stanley graduated from Wayne Memorial High School, Wayne Michigan in 1970. Upon his graduation, Mr. Lewis honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After his military commitment, Stanley went to work at Unistrut Corporation of Wayne, Michigan as a Millwright, a position he held for over twenty-five years. He was also employed with Ford Motor Company as a Millwright for over fifteen years.

                Stan the Man had resided in Harrison since 2010, moving from Canton, Michigan. While residing in Harrison, Mr. Lewis was an active Planning Commission member since 2013, as well as serving as Planning Commission Chairperson since 2017, both positions with Hayes Township. If you voted at Hayes Township since 2014, you probably were greeted by Stan. He always had a smile for the voters. He was a very dedicated Precinct Chairperson, taking his job seriously, always arriving at 5:00 a.m. and not leaving until the election was done, sometimes in the early hours of the following day. Stanley was instrumental in starting Neighborhood Watch of Hayes Township in 2013, he volunteered at the Clare County Veterans Freedom Park during the annual spring cleanup, as well as donating the Rosie the Riveter sculpture at the Freedom Park. He also worked countless hours at the Freedom Ride and Terror Ride selling dinner and raffle tickets to raise money for the five statues at the park. Stanley attended every fundraiser for veterans as well as many other organizations. He truly believed in helping to improve his community. Mr. Lewis enjoyed socializing with family and friends, was passionate about his golf game, a hobby he was very active with. He enjoyed collecting cars, watching televised sporting events, boating, fishing, and listening to music. Recently, Stanley began spending winters in South Carolina.

                Surviving Mr. Lewis are his two daughters; Amanda Davis and fiancé, Jason Hood of Canton, Michigan and Meghan Lewis of Redford, Michigan, three grandchildren; Hayden, Trista and Cahli, one brother, Kenny Lewis and wife Cindy of Garden City, Michigan, three sisters; Judy Wenson and husband Rick of Canton, Karen Trudell of Wayne and Cathy Fitt and husband Chris of Allegan, Michigan, plus many nieces, nephews and extended family members and his beloved fur baby, Stella. Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Barry Lewis and Tom Lewis and one brother in-law, Keith Trudell.
