SHIRLEY MARIE SCOTT

Shirley Marie Scott 72 of rural Harrison passed away at her home on Sunday, December 15, 2019. Shirley was born December 7, 1947 in Mecosta County, Michigan the daughter of David Balleine Lewis and Hazel Marie (Hanson) Lewis. Shirley graduated in 1966, from Barryton High School. On May 2, 1970 in Clare, Michigan, Shirley was united in marriage to Mr. Douglas Wayne Scott.

        Mrs. Scott had resided in rural Harrison since 2005, moving from Lake, Michigan. Shirley was co-owner and bookkeeper of Scott’s Party Store and Lake Hardware, both of Lake. Mrs. Scott was an avid crafter, specializing in papercrafting, sewing, knitting and basket making. Shirley’s fondest times were spent with her grandchildren.

        Surviving Shirley is her loving husband and best friend of over forty-nine years, Mr. Douglas “Doug” W. Scott of rural Harrison, her two children; Christina “Christi” Fillhard and husband Michael of Harrison and David W. Scott and fiancée, Sherry Dandron of Lake, two grandchildren; Jeremy Fillhard and girlfriend, Selena Dole of Harrison and Abigail Fillhard also of Harrison, one brother in-law, Gary Scott and wife Elaine of Midland, Michigan, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and her beloved dogs; Sadie, Maizie and Cocoa. Mrs. Scott was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers; James Robert Lewis and Richard Allen Rose, one sister in-law, Florence Scott and one brother in-law, Bill Scott.

        A memorial gathering honoring Mrs. Scott will be held Thursday, December 19, 2019 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Stocking Funeral Home, 165 W. Oak Street, Harrison.
