Posted

HARRISON – During the Dec. 12 Harrison Community Schools Board of Education meeting, Sheriff John Wilson was on hand to present the Clare County Sheriff’s Department Lifesaving Award to Harrison Middle School teacher Amanda Cooper for action she had taken to assist student Errol Mashue. In presenting the award, Wilson read the commendation aloud.

“Amanda Cooper: In recognition of the selfless act of rendering lifesaving aid to a student on Nov. 17, 2022, at the Harrison Middle School. Your immediate action in effectively administering the Heimlich Maneuver resulted directly in saving a life.”

After personally thanking her, Wilson presented the award to Cooper. Then, encouraged by superintendent Judy Walton, Errol Mashue stepped forward to join Cooper for photos to commemorate the moment. The two then gave each other a hug, as the board and attendees offered a hearty round of applause.
