Seeking Information for the Farwell Museum

Posted

The Farwell Museum has received a concrete slab that was a part of the Lochabar School. It was not a cornerstone. It was in the center of the front above the window. It is inscribed “Lochabar School, Dist #2, Surrey, 1910.”

It was found at the Putnam House, which is at the southwest corner of Illinois and Wright streets in Farwell. The house is being restored by Steve Loomis, and he generously gave the stone to the museum.

Anyone who has any information on the Putnam House, the Lochabar School or any connection between the Putnam and Littlefield families, is asked to call the museum at 989-588-0580. The museum is closed, but messages are checked, and calls will be returned.

The slab may be viewed at the museum, outside the building on the east side.
