Sandra A. Jeffery, avid golfer, award-winning realtor, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 22, 2022 at Quality Care of Howell. She courageously fought a two-year battle with cancer. Born Sandra Ann Semion in Nankin Township, (now Westland) on September 20, 1941 to Alexander and Lillian May Semion, she grew up enjoying the outdoors, climbing trees, playing baseball with her brothers, and especially longing for a horse, which she later fulfilled with up to six stabled at her Brighton-area home. She also developed her skills in both art and business that she would use to found a highly successful real estate career later in life. She attended Plymouth High School and when district boundaries changed, was graduated from Livonia Bentley High School. She then attended and was graduated from Burroughs Business School. Sandi lived a full life and a many-faceted one: first raising her two daughters, Deanna (Howden/Toddy) and Linda (Howden/Miner) with first husband Charles Howden in Westland, Livonia and then Genoa Township. She became a Howell public schools bus driver and also worked as a highly successful realtor in Howell. While in Howell, she met, and in Clare, married Don “Jeff” Jeffery on March 6, 1993 at the Doherty Hotel with hundreds of friends present, and continued her career at Century 21 Pioneer in Clare where she earned many sales awards. Sandi and Jeff bought property on the east shore of Eight Point Lake, near Clare, and built a house there so they could watch the sunsets with friends and family aboard their pontoon boat. He passed away in 2019. Together with their husbands Dub Toddy of Howell and David Miner of Fowlerville, Dee and Linda gave her the greatest gifts of all: grandchildren Jessica Toddy and Shelly (John) Douglas; and Todd Miner, who together later blessed her with great-grandchildren Charlee and Johnny Douglas, JaeLynn and Allison Miner. Another grandchild, Jessica, preceded her in death. She doted on her grandkids and great grandkids, often bringing down as many as two carloads of Christmas presents to them with Jeff down to the Fowlerville/Howell area. Family trips to Eight Point Lake were common, with holiday celebrations and summer gatherings celebrated on the deck, beside her living room fireplace, at her table and around her kitchen island, which was always well-stocked with appetizers for anyone who rang her doorbell. She was a past president of the Eight Point Lake Homeowners Association and also was a perennial coordinator for lakefront activities, including numerous holiday golf cart parades and celebrations. She also often took golf cart rides around the lake and took pride in introducing scores of new families to Eight Point lakeside living in her role as its “go-to” realtor. Sandi and Jeff formed close relationships with her neighbors and others on the lake, including Chris and Len Strait, John and Jane Seibt, Diane and Steve Lambert, Russ and Anita Kalso. Sandi was an avid traveler, touring Mexico, Fiji, Alaska, California, Hawaii and Europe, cruising the historic Rhine River, and even walleye fishing in northern Ontario with Jeff and her brothers. An avid golfer in her “spare time,” she always looked forward to the annual trek to Hilton Head for golf with Jeff and friends. She also was a member of Clare-area golf leagues and was a 25-year golf partner with her friend, Judy Saupe. She is preceded in death by Donald Jeffery, Alexander Semion, Lillian May Semion and Jessica Lynn Toddy. She is survived by brothers Alan (Jerie) Semion, M.D., and Bill (Denise) Semion, her two daughters, two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand nephews, and her beloved cat, Molly.
