Ronnie “Red” J. Spencer, 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 2, 2021, at Sunnyside Senior Care Home, in Marshall, Michigan.
Ronnie was born November 7, 1943, in Springport, Michigan to Lloyd Sr. and Thelma (Davis) Spencer. He is survived by his children Charles (Ginger) Spencer of Rolling Prairie, IN and Teresa (Robert) Lyon of Springport, Michigan. He is also survived by grandchildren: Angela (Justin) Bird, Nicki (Gerry) Grace, Kala (Douglas) Matthys, Zachery Lyon (Courtney Kast), Kristine Spencer (Will Haughton), Bo (Becca) Lyon, Courtney (Andrew) Moore, many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and his beloved dog Zulu.
His parents and his brother Lloyd Jr. preceded him in death.
Ronnie loved everything about airplanes, not only flying them but working in and around them as well. He took pride in his aircraft and was most proud when he was elected to manager of Clare County Airport. He was a regular corner booth staple at the Aeroport Restaurant in Harrison for many years. He was a proud member of the United States Marines for 3 years.
Ronnie’s family would like to express a special thank you to Sonny and Cindy Moore, owners/operators of Sunnyside Senior Care. Sonny and Cindy treated Red like family for many years, and would often take him back to Harrison and to local car shows.
A memorial service will be held with his closest family and friends at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Oaklawn Hospice, 13444 Preston Drive, Marshall, MI 49068.
