ROGER LANE STRICKLAND

                Roger Lane Strickland age 71 of rural Harrison passed way Saturday, February 26, 2022, at MyMichigan Medical Center-Midland. Roger was born October 20, 1950, in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri the son of Neil Arthur Strickland and Norma Jean (Whitney) Strickland. Roger was united in marriage to Ms. Gwen Smith on June 3, 1977, in Pontiac, Michigan. Mrs. Strickland preceded Roger in death on October 28, 2016, after thirty-nine years of marriage. Mr. Strickland had resided in Harrison since 1999, moving from Pontiac, Michigan. Roger retired from General Motors Corporation Truck and Bus division after thirty plus years of dedicated service.

                Mr. Strickland attended Grace Fellowship Church of Gladwin, Michigan for many years. He also participated in the greeting card ministry at Grace Fellowship church. Roger was a staunch Republican supporter over the years. He enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, reading various books, watching John Wayne movies, shooting archery with his son Nathan, as well as taking him to many archery tournaments as well as hockey games throughout Michigan during Nathan’s younger years. Roger found great pleasure in decorating the family home for each Christmas season.

                Surviving Mr. Strickland is his son, Nathan Strickland of Harrison, his two grandchildren; Harry Strickland and Jersey Strickland, one sister, Marlene Strickland of Mason, Michigan, one brother, Carl Strickland and wife Laurie of Owosso, Michigan, four sisters in law; Vickie Gress of Harrison, Sharon Smith of Ludington, Michigan, Gail Michel of Harrison and Stacey Bondie and husband Dave of Marion, Michigan, numerous nieces, nephews and was instrumental in assisting in the raising of Sean McIntosh and Tim Michel. Roger was also preceded in death by his parents, two sisters; Wendy Vichunas and Fonda Strickland, as well as two sisters in law; Patricia Carlock and Rhonda McKenzie.

                Funeral services honoring Mr. Strickland will be held Friday, March 4, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. from Grace Fellowship Church, 4031 Adams Road, Gladwin, Michigan 48624 with Pastor Rick Tarter officiating. Visitation will take place Thursday, March 3, 2022, from 4:30-8:00 p.m. at Stocking Funeral Home, 165 West Oak Street, Harrison, Michigan 48625 and on Friday, March 4, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at Grace Fellowship Church. Burial will be in Pleasant Plains Cemetery, Harrison.
