Richard “Rick” Lee Carothers 78 of Harrison passed away suddenly at his home on Monday, July 12, 2021. Richard was born February 24, 1943 in Fresno, California, the son of Seigal Carothers and Carol (Sutherland) Carothers. Immediately following his high school graduation, Rick honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.

                Rick had resided in Harrison since 1989, moving from Saginaw, Michigan. On April 20, 1991 in Harrison, Mr. Carothers was united in marriage to Ms. Cheryl M. Putnam. Rick retired from Transport Services as a Chemical Tanker hauler after fifteen years of service. Mr. Carothers was a long-time member of Forgotten Eagles Chapter 3 Region. Rick enjoyed motorcycle riding, spending time with his grandchildren, great-granddaughter and his beloved dog, Fred, watching televised Fox News and NASCAR races. He enjoyed playing slots and Michigan Lottery.

                Surviving Mr. Carothers is his loving wife and best friend of thirty years, Mrs. Cheryl M. Carothers of Harrison, two daughters: Kellie Varney and husband Brent of Chesaning, Michigan and Julie Frazier of Harrison, two sons: Rob King and wife Rhonda of Niles, Michigan and Greg Greenman and wife Jennifer of Coloma, Michigan, nine grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, with two arriving fall of 2021, one brother, Mark Mishler and wife Jennifer of Hemlock, Michigan, many nieces, nephews and his beloved dog, Fred. Mr. Carothers was preceded in death by his parents and numerous sisters and brothers.

                Celebration of Life services for Rick will be held Sunday, July 18 2021, at 1:00 p.m. from Stocking Funeral Home, 165 W. Oak St., Harrison, with Mr. Terry Kunst officiating. Memorial Gathering will take place Sunday, July 18, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to the time of service. Military Honors will be presented by the United States Marine Corps and American Legion Post 404, Harrison.
